Fendo UK's Hybrid Tactical Defence (HTD) is a cutting edge Self Protection and combatives system that combines the most effective elements of various martial arts, Close quarter combative techniques, and modern self protection strategies. HTD was developed by Daz Norton, a veteran Self Protection and former Security, Law Enforcement & Close Protection operative, who recognised the need for a versatile, adaptive system that could be applied in real world violent situations. The system is designed to be straightforward, efficient and sometimes brutal, focusing on neutralising threats as quickly as possible while ensuring the safety of the practitioner.

CORE PRINCIPLES

1. Simplicity: HTD is based on simple, instinctive, gross motor movements that can be learned quickly and applied under high stress situations. The techniques are easy to recall and execute, making them accessible to people of all fitness levels and backgrounds.

2. Versatility: The system incorporates techniques from multiple disciplines, including Kino Mutai, Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Krav Maga, and military combatives, allowing practitioners to adapt to various types of threats whether armed or unarmed, standing or grounded.

3. Real-World Application: Unlike traditional martial arts, HTD is focused solely on self protection. The techniques are tested and refined to work in real life scenarios, such as muggings, home invasions, multiple attackers, street attcks or weapon related situations. Training includes scenarios based on actual incidents to prepare practitioners for the psychological and physical realities of violence.

4. Aggression and Control: HTD teaches students to harness controlled aggression, using it to overwhelm and incapacitate an attacker while maintaining situational awareness and control. The system emphasises striking vulnerable areas, weapon disarmament, and using everyday objects as improvised weapons.

5. Mental Conditioning: Recognising that the mind is as important as the body in combat situations, HTD includes mental conditioning techniques such as stress inoculation, fear management, and Tactical analysis under pressure. We train you to remain calm and focused, even in the most chaotic situations.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

HTD training is delivered through a combination of hands on workshops, weekly classes, short courses, seminars and just recently weekly study groups as well as online modules, and live simulation drills. The system is modular, allowing students to progress through various levels of intensity and complexity, from basic self defence techniques to advanced combatives designed for high level survival situations.

COMMUNITY & OUTREACH

Hybrid Tactical Defence is not just a self defence system; it's a community. HTD regularly holds seminars, workshops, and retreats around the UK, aimed at empowering individuals, especially those in high risk professions, such as security personnel, Police, High Court Enforcement and frontline workers. HTD also offers specialised courses for women, addressing unique threats they may face and teaching strategies for personal empowerment and safety.

REACH

Since its founding, HTD has been adopted by military units, Police, and security organisations/Operatives, as well as by civilians seeking effective Self Protection training. HTD continues to evolve, integrating feedback from real world encounters and advancements in combat science to ensure that it remains one of the most effective and adaptable systems available.
